Appointment:

a) control of observational observations of the secular variation of the Earth's magnetic field (MPZ)

b) identification of features, anomalies of the secular course of the MPZ in the vicinity of observatories.

Scope of application: observational monitoring of the magnetic field; in geological exploration.

Advantages: the technology provides high observation performance compared to the classical method based on a ferrosonde inclinometer and a non-magnetic theodolite with comparable accuracy. The observation technique allows us to register changes in the field associated with geological conditions at the limit of the magnetometer's capabilities

The technical capabilities are due to the characteristics of the POS-1 serial magnetometer. The scalar sensor has been manufactured since 1997, since 2009 it has been included in the register of measuring instruments of the Russian Federation. The measurement range of the module is 20000-100000 NT, the bit depth is 0.001 NT. SKO up to 0.01-0.03 NT at a cycle of 3-1 sec. The absolute value is up to 0.1 NT (VNIIM). Quality control of QMC measurement in nTl field units based on the noise of precession periods.

*) Vector POS-3 is a scalar POS-1 sensor in a deflecting system. The measurement is based on the field switching method.
